VOLUNTEERS who have devoted years of their lives to helping disabled people in Hartlepool have been recognised in a special ceremony.
Fourteen people were recognised for the time they have given to Hartlepool Council’s Day Services Team.
Each were presented with a certificate of commendation by the council’s Provider Services Manager, Chris Horn, at an event at the Centre for Independent Living on Havelock Street.
Chris said: “Some of the activities we offer would not be possible without the fantastic support of these volunteers.
Among those recognised were Paul Kinnersley and Kay Waller, co-chairmenof the Hartlepool Learning Disability Partnership Board for many years.
Stephen Brant, James Keely, Alan Thompson and Kevin Williams were rewarded for visiting Waverley Allotments twice a week to do gardening and help other allotment users.
Alfred Peterson-Wray, Antony Andrews, Elizabeth Dearlove, Helen Skidmore, Jean Green, Pamela Hiscoe, Ray Hann and Stephen Barnes were also recognised.
